1. Scope and responsible company
CleanBoost (Android application ID: com.vtec.cleanboost) is provided by Vortascend Tec Limited, a private limited company incorporated in Hong Kong. This policy covers the app and its launcher, cleaning, tools, weather, map, content, settings, and optional cloud features.
2. Information we process
The app processes information according to the features you use and the Android permissions you grant. Much of this information is used locally on your device. The app does not require an account merely to install or open it.
| Category | Use and scope |
|---|---|
| Device and app information | Android version, app version, compatibility, network state, battery state, installed-app package names, names, icons, and app and storage sizes may be used for the launcher, app drawer, search, cleaning, network, battery, and storage tools. Results are generally processed locally. |
| Files and storage | When you enable cleaning, file search, or uninstall-related functions and grant permission, the app may read file or directory metadata, cache sizes, and storage statistics and may initiate deletion at your direction. It does not upload your personal file contents to Vortascend Tec Limited. |
| Contacts, calendar, and tasks | Only when you grant the relevant permissions and use launcher search or shortcuts, the app accesses contacts, calendar events, or compatible task data on the device to show local results or open system apps. |
| Location | When you use weather or nearby-place search, the app may use coarse or precise location. You may choose a manual location instead. Location is used only for the relevant feature and may be sent to the weather or map provider selected for that feature. |
| Optional cloud accounts | If you connect your own Nextcloud or ownCloud server, the app processes the server address, username, and app password or token you provide for login and access. Credentials are stored locally in encrypted form. The server is selected by you and governed by its own policy. |
| Diagnostics and performance | A release may enable Google Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, or Remote Config. When enabled, Google may process app-instance identifiers, device and app version, crash, performance, and usage information for stability, performance, and configuration. Actual collection depends on the release configuration. |
3. Third-party services
For features you choose to use, the app may connect to the services below. Each provider processes information under its own policy:
- Google Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, performance, or configuration, depending on the release configuration: Firebase Privacy.
- Bright Sky, OpenWeather, and MET Norway for weather queries. OpenWeather geocoding is used only when you use the related feature.
- OpenStreetMap tiles and the Overpass API for maps or nearby-place search. Their terms and privacy policies apply.
- Your own Nextcloud or ownCloud server when you choose to connect one.
Vortascend Tec Limited does not sell your personal information and the app itself does not require payment information. Availability, logs, and retention periods for third-party services are controlled by the relevant providers.
4. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve launcher, cleaning, search, tools, weather, map, and cloud features;
- To perform local device actions within the permissions you choose;
- To detect errors, improve performance, protect services, and prevent abuse.
5. Retention and deletion
Local settings, search preferences, weather cache, and optional cloud-account information generally remain on the device until you clear them in the app, revoke permissions, clear app data, or uninstall the app. Cloud servers, weather and map providers, and Firebase may retain requests, logs, or diagnostics under their own retention periods.
6. Your choices and controls
- You can grant, deny, or revoke contacts, calendar, storage, location, and notification permissions in Android settings;
- You can turn off automatic weather location, use a manual location, or stop nearby-place search;
- You can remove a saved Nextcloud or ownCloud account in the app settings;
- You can clear app data or uninstall the app to remove local data; and
- If you believe we process information about you, or you want to exercise access, correction, deletion, or restriction rights available under applicable law, contact us below.
7. Children’s privacy
The app is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will address deletion requests as required by applicable law.
8. Security and international transfers
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information under our control, but no internet transmission or device storage is completely secure. Third-party services may process information outside Hong Kong under their own security and international-transfer arrangements.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when features, services, or laws change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date at the top. Continued use of the app means you have read the updated policy.
